" If A Dave Falls In A Parking Lot...And There Is No One Around To Hear It......Does It Make A Sound?.........................HELL Yeah!!!!!........."

Good Afternoon;

Another rainy day and I'm not in the mood or condition to go out in it hauling my bags of things too important, valuable and/or necessary to be left unattended in the shed.

Weather, age, health-physical and mental, external stressors both current and impending, are slowly but surely,...like the very fabric of the shed that I'm sitting in,...deteriorating and eroding the facade that I erect each time I step out the door.

The result....an increasing incidence of isolation, both physical and emotional.
Which means that, aware that I am not (in my mind and opinion) fit for acceptable social interaction, I avoid it, thereby ensuring that most if not all who I regularly come into contact with do not get the opportunity to witness those episodes of extreme depression, confusion and paranoia, or observe the at times debilitating anxiety and soul crippling feelings of worthlessness that have me exploring options to a continued state of existence. (Ideations as opposed to actions at this time, though my lifetime average is an involuntary 0 for 3, due to unforeseen circumstantial intervention.......[obviously.......lol]..). Of course this leads to attitudes and assessments formed from partial data, and comments as to how 'well' I am dealing with 'everything', or related uninformed statements regarding my physical capabilities, abilities, or potential, because the majority of my physical health issues do not visually manifest themselves except "in extremis"....

If you are wondering what brought these melancholy thoughts and reflections on,
well, this morning, after getting up and going to take care of relieving some bladder overpressure issues...lol...I was on my way to the Giant when I stepped up onto the curb and in the middle of the movement my lower left back, hip, and leg spasmed and went numb for a second....just as my weight was coming down on it. WHAM! I hit the street falling on my face and left side with the bag ending up under me jabbing into my upper left abdomen and my already painful and swollen splenomegaly. As I rolled over and sat up the edge of the curb hit me in the juncture of spine and buttocks, on the left side of course, right where the fatty tumor on the sciatic nerve happens to be located as I immediately and painfully found out. After checking to see if the laptop was damaged,
(it wasn't!...priorities, right......lol),
I managed to get up and stagger back into the shed seconds before the skies burst open with the first downpour of the day. Determining that nothing was burst, broken, or bleeding I took my pain meds, a muscle relaxer/tranquilizer/anti-spasming, (better late than never!?), and an Ibuprofen, called the doctor, (who said do just what I had done, and rest), and went to sleep.
Awakened by an even stronger and heavier thunderstorm, previously unnoticed pain sites, and the delayed nausea effects, I spent a few minutes convincing my stomach that it really was empty and the dry heaves were not only unnecessary but unproductive and the resultant tunnel vision was a real drag.

Once I could focus properly again and my hands stopped shaking I brought out the laptop and went to WebMd and a few other sites, checked e-mail, and came here. It has just stopped raining after what appears to be an aborted thunder boomer, and I am about to try to slip over to the Giant between the bouts of storms and get some coffee and something LIGHT! to eat. For the reasons in the beginning of this post, and the more immediate obvious ones, and weather related also.....
"I ain't a goin' nowheres!"
other than for food and hygienic reasons.

Thanks for letting me spill my guts, (almost but not quite literally...lol), and thanks for all the 'loyal readers' who have kept coming back for the past 2 & 1/2 years to ear witness to my 'exercise in exorcism' here.....whatever your personal thoughts and opinions.

"Dashboard Confesional~Fever Dreams...........(More Will Be Revealed.....It All Makes Sense In The Post Below This One!).........."

"Revelations And Hallucinations.............................."

Good Evening;
Another uneventful day has ended, which is a good thing.
Half the day and night was spent dodging or waiting out sudden rain showers, and thunder-boomers.
Holy Blasphemy........it's raining like hell again.

First I went over to the Giant and got some ground beef/pork/veal mix and then,
I went over to Jenn's in the morning and grabbed a shower and cooked a few burgers on the George Foreman Grill knockoff, and played with Devin for a bit before they went out.....in reverse order actually................lol.
I rolled out of there just before 3:00 pm. and went over to the coffee shop and ended up goofing around on Facebook with friends for a while.

Don't forget the Judgement Day Looting Party starts at 12:30 pm. sharp on Saturday May 21st -- Infidels, Heathens, Atheists, & Pagans Welcome!
(All Scientologists must have a waiver from Xenu!)

And Michelle and I exchanged recollections of recent fever dreams/hallucinations on FB chat, (mine was pretty twisted and sick.....let's just say the words erotic encounters and Snooki are not usually paired together in my less than 103 degree temperature lexicon! and the sick part was.....I enjoyed it!!! Oh Dear God somebody please scrub out my brain with OxyClean!!!!!)
[I know what you're thinking......."OH......so that's WTF the link to the song in the previous post was all about".................lmao!]

Stuff like that............lol.
I took the buses back here to the Giant and then sat outside the First Watch Cafe reading until the lightning was close enough to send me to the shed before the rain came......wait for it.....just about....NOW! It's raining so hard I can't hear the TV!

Anyway gotta go, this stupid numbness is back in my hands and fingers again, and btw, I got mail at Jenn's from the neurologist that I have an appointment on May 31st.

"Bland And Boring As Wonder Bread With Velveeta.........................."

Good Morning;
Well I have nothing to say, and this post is a reflection of that.
For the second day in a row I only left the shed to go to the Giant, to shave, wash up, use the restroom, get a cup of coffee, and pick up something to eat.
I was going over my daughter's to shower but it rained like hell on and off this morning and was steady in between the thunderstorms, and I was not in the mood to get soaked waiting on the bus stop, carrying my bags and the laptop. We put it off until today, Wednesday.

"The Lost Art Of...... 'Face Typing'..........AKA..........'Snore...Clunk...Ouch'......................"

Good Evening;
So yesterday morning came much earlier than I would have liked......lol. I was at Jenn's and falling asleep at the keyboard Saturday night but as soon as I turned off the TV and the laptop and the lights and lay down.........BING!, wide awake. I was about 3:45 am. when I finally crashed out on the recliner after trying to sleep on the couch and the chair. My cell phone's alarm went off at 7:00 am. and I staggered into the bathroom to shower with a mug of coffee in my hand, which I have no memory of stopping in the kitchen and not just pouring, but brewing also!.........lol.

Rachel and her mother came by at 8:35 am. to pick me up, (20 minutes late, but within the 30 minute 'JST' buffer I built into her ETA...........lol.) We were dropped off in Owings Mills at Beth Israel Congregation's annual Mitvah Day.
After meeting our host Sheri K., the woman who asked me to come and speak to the 5th grade Hebrew School class, both this year and last, about homelessness and some of my experiences, and most relevant to the day...what they can do to to help.
I talked with them about the differing faces of homelessness today, and how a simple thing such as not turning away and making believe they didn't see someone could matter. Keeping my vocabulary at their level and bringing in the Jewish ideals of 'mitzvot', 'tikkun olam', and 'tzedakah' I tried to open their eyes to the concepts of shared humanity and individual dignity, and religious and cultural obligations, duties, and tradition. These were a group of savvy and already developing a social conscience kids, having parents who encouraged them to be involved.....(who were elsewhere in the shul on other projects). I also touched on some of the things that would be good to have in a 'care package' Rachel had decided she wanted to stay with me so when I had finished answering the questions, and listening to the comments the kids had all of us made a dozen or so brightly colored, double layer, knotted fringe edged, fleece blankets to be distributed to children in the Hannah More women and children's shelter.
Rachel kept all the larger pieces of scrap fleece, (7 inch squares cut from the corners), to take home and use as quilts for her dolls, and 'saddles' for her 2 cats and 2 dogs................lol.

We got a ride to Jenn's from a member of the congregation who lives nearby about 11:30 am. and hung out there until 4:30 pm. After lunch the kids played and watched a movie....one of the Disney Princess movies, "Tangled", what else. With Rachel there it was 2 to 1 against Ed..........lol. I made shrimp pasta salad that was supposed to be for our dinner, (Ed and Devin not willing to try a damn thing new), but.... between Ed's pain in the ass behavior on Sunday and the upstairs neighbor coming home at 4:30 pm., turning up the stereo full blast and kicking in the sub-woofer...making normal conversation impossible and my last nerve, stretched and frazzled......finally snapped and I had to get out of there asap! Rachel and I packed up and started to head over to the bus to the coffee shop, but when I called her mother and found out she had not even left for Frederick Md. yet...plans changed and we walked up to Reisterstown Road Plaza and she met us there and Rachel left.....WITH! the container of shrimp salad I had packed for US!......the little stinker....LOL. So it was back over to the subway station where my plans and the MTA refused to equalize, one bus never showing, the other reeking of vomit and having to be returned to base to be cleaned because of the 'HazMat' laws regarding 'bodily fluids, and it's replacement also never showing.

It was after 6:00 pm. when I got to the coffee shop and I ended up in an hour conversation with John Erby about 'Moore's Law' and the pace of discovery and advancement in the chip and computer industry, coming up with some wild ass dreams and devices.......lol. I left there at closing, after the tremendous thunderstorm was over and walked over to the bus stop and caught the 8:50 pm. bus back to the Plaza subway station, and 30 minute after that the bus up here to the shed.

Where I passed out 20 minutes later, about 10:30 pm. I woke up at 6:00 am. to pee and took my morning meds and crashed out again until 11:00 am. when I thought I was getting up and going out....next thing I knew it was 1:30 pm.! Damn was I tired! By the time I got moving and made it over to the Giant to wash up and grab somthing to eat,...I knew I wasn't going anywhere today, so it was back here to the shed and just kickin' back with the portable digital TV and the laptop.

And it's 3:20 am. on Tuesday now and I've fallen asleep a half a dozen times waking up as my face interfaces with the keyboard.....like now!!!!

"Buses, Bubbles, and Birthdays........................."

Good Evening;
Well I spent the morning and early afternoon in the mist and drizzle on and off buses and the subway, down, around, and across, and back up town, from Pikesville to Johns Hopkins, to Monkee's, back to the shed to pick up dirty laundry, then past the Giant and the library, and over to Jenn's about 4:00 pm. cooked a hunk of beef and showered and did laundry, (and had to use dish detergent because she's out of laundry detergent.....lol! .....and oh hell!, I just realized that I still have clothes in the dryer!
They can sit there until morning, it's 1:30 am. now.

I'm here at Jenn's after monster -sitting for the afternoon and evening, and am about to try to crash out as I have to be up and in the shower by 7:00 am.
I'm being picked up at 8:15 am. by the 'ex' and Rachel, and she is dropping us off in Owings Mills at Beth Israel Synagogue for the Mitzvah Day event. We'll be there until 11:00 - 11:30 am. and then getting a ride to the bus or subway depending on the rain and the schedule, and going back to Jenn's for a small family birthday party for Rachel's 7th, which was Friday. Ed has made her a card and is waiting anxiously until morning to get his grubby little hands on the 'glitter glue pens' to finish decorating it. I deferred THAT art session until his mother was here. Let Jenn deal with it....glitter and I just Do Not get along...........lol.

If Jenn has not already done so with Ed and Devin, we are all going to bake a birthday cake or cupcakes and decorate it/them. Riiiigghhtttt!!................lol! I see more icing on fingers and in little mouths than on cake.

Damage reports to be filed tomorrow...........

"I f This Doesn't Work.......................I Quit!............."

Good Evening;
So it seems Spring finally arrived this week, and like a hibernating animal crawling out of it's lair I burst through the surface tension layer of the bubble of clinical depression that has enveloped me since March. Actually since last winter, but with my love of cold, wet, and snow you couldn't tell I was unhappy..............LMAO!

A short rundown of the past week..I went to the coffee shop Monday afternoon and Jenn picked me up after her HG meeting and we went to Giant then to her apartment.
Because my son-in-law Tom had a Dr.s appointment early on Tuesday, and Jenn was going with him, I spent the night in the recliner, (not sleeping...though I tried!) on
Monday night, and Tuesday morning and afternoon I at Jenn's babysitting 3 year old Devin and rockin' out with all the Disney Princesses on DVD and VCR. Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, (from Aladdin), and Rapunzel. I made an appointment with my caseworker from Prologue rescheduling for Friday, and used up way too many minutes on hold trying to contact the S.S.A. to find the current status of my case....never did get an answer. I left there for a while and went to the Starbucks in the late afternoon, both to give them some time with the kids, and to get away myself. I had made plans to spend Tuesday night also so I would get up in the morning early enough to get in the shower and get down to JAI. Which I did, and saw the podiatrist Dr. Marcus (who, with the aid of a chain saw, an industrial diamond coated grinding wheel, some sulphuric acid, and a little chunk of C4 was able to wrestle my nails and the athletes foot fungus to a draw......2 falls out of three....and she gave me 3 different scripts for anti-fungals, lotions, potions, unguents and ointments..), while I was waiting to see a PCP, (Dr. Flowers, not MY doc who was on vacation, and luckily she was understanding and in agreement with me about going into any depth about the old, and a few new but 'can wait 'til MY doc gets back issues, 'cause not only is she not up to speed on all the recent past tests etc., but will most likely never see me again so why confuse an already messed up chart with issues I'm just going to have to go over again with Dr. Richardson anyway'). So after the normal exam, and some extended blood pressure checks and investigations....[when I saw the tech. for 'vitals' it happened to be 170/110 the first time, and after sitting quietly worked down to 155/ 100, and then 135/98.....after a dose of a 'quick response' BP med, (sorry can't remember which), and an aspirin, just for shits and giggles, it got down to 128/88 and people seemed relieved.....lol. After the first measurement with the automatic system, and a re-check with the old fashioned spyhgmomanometer and stethoscope the second thing the tech did (the first was to ask a doctor to re-check the readings), was ask for my emergency contact/next of kin info.................lol! ]...I explained that THAT was the reason I was actually there....to get my BP prescription refilled, and the other 3 also if it was possible, according to my original plan, which was to drop in, give my doc a note and walk out with the new script and an appointment at a future date.......but that was shot to hell when I was informed of the absence of my PCP. But JAI has a new computer system that allows the doc to enter the prescriptions directly into the pharmacy's 'waiting to be filled' queue online, (I'm guessing only if the patient already has an account at said pharmacy), so there is no paper 'scripts' to lose or be stolen. (Now why Dr. Marcus gave me paper I am not sure...it could be that because she is not an employee of JAI but is co-located there as a convenience to patients...[as are other 'specialists' who see patients there on occasion], or it could have something to do with the nature of the medication......I dunno....].
So it was a profitable day as regards getting some things accomplished, but time-wise....HA!..... 4 & 1/2 hours from walk in to walk out.

I went back to Jenn's and grabbed my bags and quickly headed over to Starbucks in Mt. Washington where I was meeting with 'Iokepa and Inette, my Hawaiian friends, (www.returnvoyage.com), and we talked and caught up with each other for close to 3 hours. As always, it was a magical and spiritual time with them, and something that combined with the arrival, finally, of some true Spring weather...it has been a glorious week...[of course it's going to rain this weekend, but even that is cool...it's not predicted to be tornadoes or dangerous thunderstorms this time!]...which along with a long awaited turn-around in my sleep patterns which are returning to 'normal', (well...'normal' for me, which is still nowhere near medically recommended guidelines....lol!......but I can live with them.) Talking with 'Iokepa and Inette helped me realize that a large part of what was poisoning my system in a very literal way was NOT my problem. I had been taking in and internalizing other peoples misconceptions and expectations...which I really should have seen, because one of the first things that is learned in NA and AA is that 'expectations, whether they are yours or others, or yours OF others....realistic or not.....can kill you'
Sometimes it takes someone else to make you see what you already know.

So it was back to the shed Wednesday night, (where Blogger ate a couple posts and links, because when I signed in it was working, but had been shut down for some sort or service work to fix a problem that arose AFTER!!! it was shut down for some maintenance work...and having no clue that I was not still signed in...and clicking "Publish post" and "Save" then logging off as usual, there was no indication that

SON OF A BITCH!!!!!! IT FRIGGIN' DID IT AGAIN!!!
I had another 4 or 5 paragraphs, consisting of Thursday's and Friday's activities, which were supposedly being 'autosaved' as I went along, as usual, and at 1:24 am. approximately, I hurriedly finished writing, added a title and signed off, because my 'Low Battery' indicator said..."Save Now Or Forever Lose Your Copy", and again clicked on the Publish button.....and Blogger was offline again, I tried to go back and look for the post to save it to a flash drive....AND THE WHOLE DAMN THING CAME UP IN 'HTML', FLICKERED, AND DISAPPEARED......AAAARRRGGHHH!!!

So, now I'm in the shed and plugged into AC power and Blogger is backup and running, but all that was saved was the first part of the post.

Anyway.....
Back at the shed on Wednesday night I was asleep by 2:00 am. and up at 5:00 am. and over to the gas station to use the bathroom, and grab my hat which I had left there earlier on the way past. I went back to sleep but I was up and over to the RiteAid by 10:00 to get my BP meds, et.al., then over to the Giant, and then the library, and then to the coffee shop by about 4:30 pm. While there I saw Stewart and we sat and talked. I had come over to tell him I had not been avoiding him and told him about my isolating and deep depression over the past 6 or 7 weeks. I also told him that I was unable to keep the schedule I had planned on to re-pay him the money he had lent me. He to9ld me he had no intention of collecting or taking any monies from me, that the money was a gift, not a loan. Now this both shocked and moved me because at the end of March I had asked to borrow $10.00 for a short while and he reached in his wallet and handed me a $100.00 bill!....which I did not scrutinize but just put in my pocket. I did not realize what it was until I reached into my pocket and pulled it out to buy a coffee. I walked over to him then and asked him if he knew that he had given me such a big bill, he replied yes and I said it may take a little longer, and he said "don't worry about it".....with me thinking it meant don't worry about the time frame....and him meaning don't worry about paying him back!. Well that took a heavy load off my neck and shoulders, figuratively and literally, I was knotted up with tension all across my neck and back. Stewart really is a sweet guy, and has been treating me like a son ever since I played detective and tracked him down by some deductive reasoning last Xmas to return a $40.00 book of 100 'Forever Stamps' in the restroom at Starbucks, and since he lost and was not able to replace the copy of the Jewish Times that had me on the cover that he borrowed and lost.

Thursday night back at the shed Blogger was still/again down and I did not feel like setting the TV up, so I was asleep, (with the light on!), by Midnight.
On Friday morning I woke up around 7:00 am. went to the 'temporary excess fluid depository' and went back to sleep until 9:00 am. I ended up killing time in the Giant and the library until it was time to catch the bus to Prologue, where I spent another 2 hours killing time signing release forms and HIIPA crap.

By this time it was almost 3:00 pm. so I took the bus to the subway to the bus to the coffee shop. Will one of the barristas asked if he could interview me for a college paper/project in one of his courses, something to the effect of "Class And Race In America". He mentioned something about class in a purportedly classless society, and about comparing attitudes toward the homeless with those of Indians toward the 'untouchables'. He says to me, 'don't worry, no one will see it but my professor', I just grinned at him with a twisted smile until he said "what!?", and I mentioned my little 'Exercise in Exorcism' here and the write-ups, photos & videos in magazines, newspapers, and the Internet and TV..... "Oh......yeah..." he replied......lmao!
After the usual buses back here I sat outside the First Watch Cafe from almost 10:30 pm. until after 1:00 am. using their Wifi and typing all this the first time, (plus more which I'll remember after I post it...lol).

Tomorrow morning I have to run by Monkee's in East Baltimore, and then be at Jenn's to monstersit, and do laundry, (and at $4.00 for wash & dry and $3.50 for Rachel's bus pass on Sunday....that's it, I'm dead broke....I've still got to find a way to get something for Rachel's birthday gift too.). I'm spending the night there so I can shower before her mother picks me up and drops us off at Beth Israel's Mitzvah Day event. I'm speaking to a class of fifth graders and Rachel will most likely be doing whatever project the younge kids are working on.
Afterwards we are getting a ride to the bus or subway and heading to Jenn's where we're having a little party with Ed and Devin....it still cracks me up that she is AUNT Rachel, and only 9 months than Ed and 3 years 11 months older than Devin....can't wait until they're just a little older and start with the 'power' games...........lol!

All right, it's 3:20 am. and I'm swerving all over the keyboard, thank goodness I'm not mousing with my eyes falling shut like this. The backspace and delete keys are working overtime....and the poor spellcheck must be exhausted...........................lol!

If It Doesn't Fit ...Force It!,.............................If It Breaks, It Needed Replacing Anyway!..................."

Good Evening;
So I'm back after about a 2 day break....

And that was all that was left of the damn post after Blogger went into "maintenance mode"........and then went haywire for 3 days.
I lost one whole post that was finished and supposed to have been published, and a second, longer one that I had saved...supposedly!
And another link post.

Anyway, I'll be back here tonight to try to recall everything.

"Weekend Recap .............To ............. Monday Morning Pre-Dawn Rant .............."

Good Morning;
Well Saturday was a waste; sleep, eat, TV, laptop.....all in the shed, with only a couple excursions to the Giant. Today, Sunday, Mothers Day, was a bit better, getting out by 2:00 pm. and killing an hour in the food store unable to make up my mind what to get to eat because I had enough grocery credit on the card to have actual choices. Then over to the Starbucks where I spent an hour sending out Mothers Day e-mails to Jenn and many more friends than I realized. Which was a pleasant surprise, as was finding out Inette and 'Iokepa were in town for her birthday and to see her mother and son. I also stated that I hoped their schedule was such that we would have a chance to meet this week. I got an immediate reply that I must be psychic because 'Iokepa had just mentioned the same thing only moments before. Well I replied that I had been called 'psychotic' before but never 'psychic'.....lol. These are my Hawaiian friends,(www.returnvoyage.com) , who I met at the now closed Pikesville Starbucks with whom an instant bond was formed.

The rest of the evening and night after the coffeeshop closed I ended up riding the Light Rail up and back a couple times because I got sucked into my book and didn't want to quit reading and lose the excitement while switching to the subway until I hit a chapter end, which came between stations of course for the first three trips..........lol.

Then it was here in the shed for 'Criminal Minds', 'Numb3rs', and 'Without A Trace' and back and forth e-mails with Michelle, here in Baltimore who also has insomnia tonight, and my cousin Barbara, who is in California where it was still Sunday night....lol.

So it's 3:24 am. now, and I am going to try to sleep. I still am pretty twisted up over the story in the Poverty Insights link in the previous post. Angry, concerned, fearful, for a few of the more vulnerable homeless folks I see and talk with occasionally in my travels, most of whom have some sort of mental or emotional issues that make them susceptible to some of the truly amoral, vicious, and violent garbage walking these streets. Young, uneducated, uncivilized in the literal meaning of the word, for whom fighting is a way of life & violence is the answer to everything. White males, and black males and females mostly in this city, who equate respect with submission to the more powerful, and who grow up in an atmosphere of anger and sullen resentment. Courtesy is weakness, crudity and vulgarity are ingested with with every breath, and authority is to be ignored if it is in the way of instant gratification and personal desire. And anybody different is irrelevant. What surprises me is that more instances are not reported. Probably one reason is that there is so much 'internal' violence, each against each. Look at the 'mob scenes' at Harborplace, just recently, and last summer, huge crowds of inner city youth..but the beatings, knifings and shootings were mostly against the same demographic in these cases.
Where violence against the homeless used to be either a 'thrill crime' as a circumstance of opportunity, or some sort of organized retaliation, to get them to leave an area. Now instances of deliberate seeking out of the victims are increasing........which is scary, (and another example of the breakdown of society....but that's too complicated to even think about here).
Please understand that these are my opinions gleaned from personal and anecdotal experience, and random published instances, NOT any type of scientific data. Not that it makes them any less significant....or less valid reasons to keep looking over my shoulder in certain areas!

Hell................4:11am., bedtime for real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Evening;
The link below is to another thoughtful commentary by Joel John Roberts CEO of PATH....People Assisting The Homeless. (www.epath.org)
This is a disturbing trend that I have personally experienced both as an attempted victim and interrupting an attack on another homeless person.
Luckily I'm a person who does not believe that the statement...
"Violence Never Solved Anything"
...is a universal truth.
Sometimes ya gotta fight fire with fire, not in every case, but sometimes...

Sunday, May 8, 2011

Good Morning;
It's 04:41 on Sunday May 8th 2011, (which happens to be the official start of Before Morning Nautical Twilight for this date according to the U.S. Naval Observatory's website....or 10 minutes past 'zero dark thirty'......lol.....God I love the Internet.....lol!)
and this is post number 901.

I was just about to go to sleep, or try to anyway when these two carloads of
ghetto morons stop their cars in the Giant parking lot with their lovely, foul mouthed lyric loaded, anti social, violence promoting, misogynistic, talent devoid, & just plain ignorant excuse for music blaring out of the exterior under the car speakers that is all the latest rage among the no imagination, copy cat Crown Vic/Gran Marquis/Impala raised on air shocks so the 22 or 24 inch rims with low profile tires don't scrape the fenders owning 'yo boys' and their 'bitches and hos' can "conversate", (you know the word is converse, and I know the word is converse....but ride the bus in 'Baltimore-The City That Breeds' and eavesdrop on the majority of riders.....they make Ebonics sound like the "Kings English" ...[post stutter...lol].......), to each other at the top of their lungs...........from 18 whole inches away from one another! Oh pardon me, only half are actually talking to each other, the other half are screaming into their cell phones.

And now the delightful odor of 'blunts' are wafting their way over on the breeze.
(Don't get me wrong, it's not the weed that offends me, God knows I smoked enough of it in the past, but damn...we never ruined good quality herb by wrapping in foul smelling leaves of the cheapest possible cigars, and some of them are flavored, yecchhh! even in my junkie days at my highest I never had the desire, urge, or compulsion to smoke, grape, banana, or pina colada flavored pot!...lol!)
along with the smell of burning rubber as they begin to do 'burn outs' as they leave.
As the sound of rap 'music'...(not!)...and squealing tires fades away it is replaced by the Doppler effect of police sirens as the two cop cars which were sitting in plain sight just across the street in another parking lot take off after the bunch of mouth breathers.

I can't see exactly what went on because they were stopped just over the crest of the hill, but the psychedelic stroboscopic red white and blue light show was just enhanced by the yellow-orange of 3 tow trucks......and here comes 2 paddy wagons, one for the 'babies mommas' and the other for the 'babies daddy's', and the helicopter just made a circle of the scene, the spotlight like a light saber, as it passed over on it's way past.

Okay all is quiet again at 05:14, (or the start of Civil Morning Twilight ), except for the birds which are starting to begin their morning chirpfest , (I think I have discouraged all the attempts at nest building and loitering in and on the shed this spring.....so far anyway.....lol), and I'm going to try for 3 hours sleep.....more or less, and hopefully more.

Later................................Dave

Another good news link.
Lets get these guys, (and women too), inside first, and then
work on their issues second.
It just makes sense, and we owe them.
Give them back their dignity.

"Fight The Dark Side! .......................... Resist The Siren's Song .......................... Just Say No To Disney!.........."

Good Evening;
So I've come to the conclusion that 'Disney Princesses' are like a form of crack for little girls!

When my 3 year old grand daughter Devin got up today before 7:30 am. it was "Pop-pop Dave, I want to watch Ariel.....'Little Mermaid' ....now!" in her breathy little voice that I swear is pronouncing all her soft, sussurating, sibilants on the intake. Really she seems to speak on the inhale instead of the exhale like everyone else, and with no hard consonant sounds either...lol, but I'm straying from my point.
After that it was "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs", and then "Beauty And The Beast", all animated, (1989, 1937! the first and best full length animated film, and 1991 respectively).
And last night, (and also Tuesday night when I went over to shower) was "Hook", though not animated, it still had a CGI assisted Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell.....{and as I've mentioned.....some egghead shrink should write a paper on the somewhat twisted sexual dynamics in THIS version of the already many times psycho-dissected Peter Pan story}, but again...I digress............lol.
All the 'hook' songs from these movies burrow themselves into your brain like the alien from......."ALIEN", erupting into your consciousness without warning and taking control of your vocal facilities, causing one to burst into song.....sometimes at inopportune, embarrassing, and/or downright inappropriate moments...............lol!
They are as insidious in their own way as 'The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine"! Go ahead....I dare you to sing the first line of the chorus......uh-huh, ya see.....GOTCHA!!!

For me, today it has been "Some Day My Prince Will Come".....all afternoon and evening.
So in self defense Googled it and at least found some other versions, chief among them these 4; Bill Evans Trio from 1965, Lena Horne from 1967, and Barbra Striesand from 1979, and 9:08 glorious minutes of Miles, (Davis....who else?....w/ the sextet), from 1961. And then went back to the original by Adriana Caselotti with the 1930s style tremolos and vibratos......and back to Miles to clear my mind with his seminal, instrumental jazz rendition.
{Trivia: Adriana Caselotti the voice of Snow White was prohibited by Walt Disney himself from appearing in film and other media after recording Snow White, other than 2 uncredited songs in 'The Wizard Of Oz', 1939, and 'It's A Wonderful Life', 1946. Walt said, when Jack Benny specifically asked to use her on his radio show, "I'm sorry, but that voice can't be used anywhere. I don't want to spoil the illusion of Snow White." ! and other than promotional work for Disney, this held up until the 1970s!!!.......................}

Of course with 'L.M.'s ' "Under Da Sea", sung by Sebastian the Trinidadian calypso crab, and
"B & T B's" 'Be Our Guest' sung by Lumiere , Mrs. Potts, & Cogsworth aka; Jerry Orbach, Angela Lansbury, & David Ogden Stiers, respectively, a candelabra, tea pot, & mantel clock, (lyrics for both songs written by the late Howard Ashman of Baltimore), constantly recurring to tag team my already pummeled brain,.................................I'm still sitting here, (it's 2:05 am.), mumbling broken lyrics like a demented Andrew Lloyd Webber!......................lol!

And I am spending Monday night so I can be there early on Tuesday morning to watch Devin while Ed is at school and Jenn goes along with Tom to the doctor. That means she and I, ALONE, with 3 DVD players and a VCR.........AND.............Disney princesses old and new......and.....and.......licensed and authorized character figurines, dolls, playsets, cards, and clothing........OH,......the horror.....THE HORROR.....!

Later..............................Dave

"Journalistic Working Lunch....Minus The Liquid Inspiration Of Olden Days.................."

Good Afternoon;
Well I'm here at the coffee shop for the first time since Sunday.
Janet and sat in Boston Market, where she treated me to lunch, (Thank You very much Janet!), and we talked for a good hour or more, it may have been 90 minutes even I lost track and time flies when you're having an enjoyable time.

We talked about the possible ideas for and mechanics of being an occasional contributor to the Patch (www.pikesville.patch.com) as a blogger, and she told me she was installing a link to my little 'exercise in exorcism' here too.
The first could/would be edited for content or space, and will be whenever I see/hear/think of something I think may be of interest to readers of the Patch, and the second would be a link to the site here.

She also mentioned some possible paid tasks on the computer I could possibly perform for some other sites she has going, which await further exploration.
Then we talked about and I showed some rough copies of my poetry, and I pulled out my last copy of 'Talespinner' to give her. There was some discussion of possible incorporation of them in story of some sort.

We ended up talking about all sorts of things, as two people who find they have similar interests will do. I always enjoy making a new friend, when there are no pressures to trigger the damn anxiety attacks, and I'm on the upper slope of the depression curve.

The possibility of a few bucks at random intervals sounds good, but I wish the opportunities were sooner...Rachel turns 7 next Wednesday and the cash flow is down to a trickle this month. I'm hoping to do a trade for some of the grocery credits I have coming in next week, but everyone seems cash poor this month.
Something will come through.
Somehow!

IN Youth Held In Homeless Man’s Death; “Ultimate Form of Cowardice”

By Ted Gest

Good Afternoon;

Sorry about the format.

I just want to say...let the punishment fit the crime.

And yes I know it is a horrible thing to say, but....

Indianapolis police have arrested a man, 20, in connection with the fatal attack on a homeless man, Stephen McGuire, 61, says the Indianapolis Star. Police say video shows a group of five youths -- four males and one female -- appearing to take part in the assault of McGuire, who was repeatedly kicked in the head. One is shown laughing and pointing at McGuire's body, shadow boxing like a fighter who has just scored a knockout.

Forty-three homeless people were killed nationwide in 2009, and 294 have been slain since 1999. "Unfortunately, the time for caring about the homeless has passed in this country, and compassion fatigue has come down on them like a sledgehammer," said Neil Donovan of the National Coalition for the Homeless. Most assaults are committed by groups of drunken white males younger than 24 who do it for sport. He said the youths are influenced by video games that make sport of "bum fights" and videos that show homeless people being assaulted. "It's the ultimate form of cowardice."

"When The Levee Breaks......................................."

Good Afternoon;
Well I'm at the Pikesville library, (on the laptop using WiFi), alternating between inside and outside depending on what needs charging from an outlet, as I await Janet of Pikesville Patch, ( www.pikesville.patch.com ). She is out covering the accident on the Baltimore Beltway at Park Heights Ave. where a trucker decided that the distance between the roadway and the bottom of the bridge was only a suggestion, not a fact....with predictable results. I see that the photos and story are already posted on the above site.

Thursday was another one of those 'minimal movement' days, due to the still problematic inability to sleep at night. On Wednesday night the problem was exacerbated by a combination of back and kidney pain, (which is something new????), and some sort of bladder/kidney/prostate issue with an overabundance of the usual byproduct, (we're not talking cc here but cfm!, all night long a song from Led Zeppelin's 4th album, [think about the Army Corps of Engineers and recent events in Missouri.....lol], kept running through my head as I kept getting up, and getting up, and getting up......). I didn't leave the shed until I went down to Jenn's to 'monster sit' the grandkids about 5:00 pm., and last night even though exhausted and with the recliner at her apartment set to the optimal position to place minimal stress on my spine, I still could not get to sleep until after 5:30 am.

Now part of that was due to a case of.....Hmmm, what does one call the opposite of 'Montezuma's Revenge'???.............LOL!, but even when all the screaming was over and THAT was resolved and the plumbing issues taken care of....[you don't want to know.....trust me......you DON'T want to know!!!......LOL!!], I still could not sleep. Maybe it was the bleach fumes................lol!.........yeah that's the ticket, no wonder I'm slaphappy! Now that I think of it Wednesday's night song would not be inappropriate last night either.................LMAO!.....[literally]!

OKAY.....Enough with the low brow humor.

Anyway, I just got an e-mail to meet Janet at Boston Market so I'll be back tonight, possibly, either from the Starbucks or the shed.

Phylicia Barnes death ruled a homicide

Good Evening;
This is the teenage girl who was staying at the building next to Jenn's when she disappeared with out a trace or any witnesses just before New Years. Her body was found in the Susquehanna River at Conowingo Dam last week.
The link above goes to ABC-2-news which carried the story.
Thoughts and prayers go out to her family, along with the hope that the police quickly find and arrest the scum who were responsible.

"Just Call Me Toodles................................ I've Lost My Marbles Too.........................."

Good Morning;
Well yesterday, (Tuesday), was for the most part uneventful. I was up again all Monday night and could not get to sleep until 7:00 am., which made the 5:30 am. phone call from Monkee more of a surprise than a rude awakening...lol. She urgently needed something back that she had given me mistakenly, and had promised to someone else, but there was no possible way to accomplish that until after 7:00 pm. as I was committed to being at Jenn's to watch Devin, and she had to be at work.

When I finally fell asleep, nearing exhaustion, 30 minutes later I was awakened by the sound of raised voices and rapid fire Spanish, and then metallic clangs and thumps, and an even louder voice shouting and cursing in broken Spanish and fluent colloquial English vernacular. Slipping out of the shed and peeping around the corner I found out that it was two employees of one of the many lawn care services that happen to be located in the immediate area arguing about who would be using the brand new tractor and who would be using the weed-wacker. They had been hitting the Modelo early today and were already half loaded, and were getting a little bit physical, the third voice was the foreman from Bawlmer, mangling his Spanish,....Spanglish??...., breaking it up and then destroying the rest of the twelve pack......lol.

I headed back inside and tried to get to sleep again, but I was so worried about not waking up in time to get to Jenn's and her missing her doctors appointment, I ended up only dozing in and out and checking the time every 20 minutes. I eventually gave up around 9:30 am and went over to the Giant to wash my face and then jumped on the bus.
I spent the day and evening with Devin, and with Edward when he got home from school. I was able to take a much needed shower and do a load of laundry and we watched "Hook" on the VCR. {And if you've never seen the movie....Peter Pan married Wendy's grand daughter..... Hmmm....I wonder what the Psychologists and Psychiatrists have to say about the dynamics of that triangle.....or quadrangle, we can't leave out Tinkerbell!!!.....lol!}
I was able to leave my bags there and headed over to the Metro subway about 7:15 pm. with the intention of meeting Monkee at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she works, as the subway ends there and has an exit/entrance into the hospital itself, then getting right back on the train to Reisterstown Plaza station and back to Jenn's to pick up my bags and laundry and head up to the shed.

Well.....what should have been a 45 minute round trip took almost 3 hours! First the subway train did not show up for 30 minutes when it is scheduled to run every 10 minutes, which I found out was due to single tracking for some type of work being done, after rush hour ends. Usually it is announced over the intercom, so people can adjust their connection times to the buses....but not this time. Then..... when I get to Hopkins and call Monkee, she was at home! Turns out that she is running a high fever and was a bit spaced/delirious, and totally forgot she had talked to me an hour ago and drove home on auto-pilot. (I knew she was sick and we had talked about this on Monday night when I saw her....what is crazy is that she is working in a hospital, [not treating patients], and her bosses would not let her leave early or take off! And if she follows the proper procedure and goes to the doctor and gets a note.....she, {and anyone else who does the same, so it is not her being singled out}, ends up having to lose many more days of work and pay because even if she has a note from the doctor saying she is fit to work, it must be reviewed and sent through channels and she sits home...healthy and losing money......seems like a pretty screwed up system of bureaucracy!?!?)....but I digress.
So I took the bus to her house and back, which is not far, but that time of night the buses are running every 30 minutes, and with my typical luck...because I wasted time when I got down there trying to call her and could not because it happens to be one of the few dead zones I have found for my cell phone, the bus I COULD have caught went right by, before I knew I'd need it......thank you Mr. Murphy, for another example of one of the corollaries to your well known law.....................lol!

Anyway, I got back to Jenn's, grabbed my bags and a handful of baked ziti, (literally, I put the leftover wedge in a baggie and ate it like a squeeze pop.....lol!), and scampered back to the bus stop as it started to rain, to catch the same #59 that I usually catch on the way back from the coffee shop, [which happened the other day from Jenn's and with the #58 when I was leaving Rachel's....there's something karmic going on here......or I'm being prepped for a trip to....."The Twilight Zone"......]....(lol.....ya see what happens when the lack of sleep catches up with me)......{with the pretty religious Christian driver with whom I have regular talks with about the differences and similarities of Christianity and Judaism. I seem to be his 'go to guy' when he has a question about rituals or traditions....lol. If I don't know the answer, I'll look it up for next time, or ask someone more involved.
I went into the Giant to fill my water bottle and to check something in one of the newspapers on the rack, and sat outside FirstWatch to read until the rain started to get heavy, about 11:40 pm. I came in here and lay down and went right to sleep...for 2 damn hours! Now it's 3:00 am. and I'm still awake, which is why I'm here online. I think...THINK!, I can get back to sleep fairly soon at this point......sooo.....

"Don't Think Of It As Being Late For Today..............I'm Just Early For Tomorrow...................."

Good Morning;
Well I'm still out of phase in my sleep patterns. I fell asleep finally at 9:00 am. Monday morning. I ended up getting up and going to the Giant to wash up, shave, and use the bathroom and shop for a meal about 4:30 pm. I was up at Noon and called Jenn to postpone coming by to bathe until Tuesday, because I would not been able to have made it over while Edward was still at school as we had planned.
(This actually works out better because she has a doctors appointment at 12:45 pm. and I'll be able to watch Devin, relieving Jenn of the burden of having to deal with her at the docs. office.)
I passed back out and did not hear the phone ring when my caseworker from Prologue called, and when I woke up at 2:30 pm. I did not notice the voicemail icon on the phone, and went back into a half-sleep until 4:30 pm.
It is not as if I am staying up on purpose, or that I am lazing around all day for enjoyment. I have been feeling totally drained and exhausted, and I don't know how to describe it but not just my muscles and my joints ache to the point that every major movement is an effort, my body is in pain from the inside out too.... from the swollen spleen and the gall bladder, which both come and go, and sometimes tag team along with the neuropathy from the chest surgery, and I JUST FRIGGIN' HURT.

I thought exercise might help, as all the articles in the papers and magazines on generalized pain suggest, so since I had to go to Monkee's this evening to pick up meds, I took a combination of buses and trains that forced me to walk more and I tried to use the stairs at the subway stations.....(and while I was there got my monthly pass for May....so that is two things I did accomplish at least!.....lol)

Well that was a big mistake. The degenerative disc deterioration in my, spine, and the scoliosis has me walking, (and sometimes limping), in such a way that my hips, knees, and ankles are misaligned, which means I'm walking, (and sometimes limping), in such a way that my spine is being subjected to abnormal stresses.....(see the loop).....plus carrying my bag with the possessions that cannot be left in the shed and the pressure of the tumor on my sciatic nerve......Okay.....and the excess weight that I really need to lose is no help either. And yet each specialist doctor I see says that the particular area of their specialty is not...BY ITSELF ALONE!!...cause for intervention, and I up being shuffled off to another doctor. This is one of the major reasons that the slide into depression which started in mid March, was such a quick, rapid, steep, deep, long, and hard to escape episode. Which I still am not wholly out of.....and that brings me back full circle to the start of this post....and the whacked out sleep cycles.

Anyway, I'm out of here now with one last item...
Janet of the online local news site/blog Pikesville Patch, www.pikesville.patch.com
who I met at the library a while ago has expressed an interest in linking the Patch to the blog and vice/versa. She also mentioned that she knew of someone who was interested in starting a poetry group/reading in the area, and also possibly doing some sort of story on my poetry and my desire to promote it.
I wrote her back and said that if she felt the content of the blog was appropriate for her reader base, feel free to link to it.
So...if you see any links back to the Patch, check it out please, to reciprocate. Also, you may find a Patch to your area/neighborhood/suburb among their sites.

"Burn In Hell---OBL!"........... &. .........."Don't Forget To Thank A Vet!!"

Good Evening;
So, it's May 1st, May Day;
Workers Of The World UNITE!...&...Dyslexics Of The World UNTIE!
LOL!!
But seriously,

www.povertyinsights.org/2011/05/02/the-military-is-the-home-of-the-few-and-the-proud-but-homeless-veterans-are-the-many-and-broken/

[ sorry, no link :-( ]
A story on America's neglect of homeless veterans.....
on the same day that President Obama came on TV to announce that
Osama bin Laden has been confirmed killed and his body recovered by the same military heroes we ignore when they come home traumatized by what they've seen and gone through, and then ignore again when we see them, or DON'T see them as we walk by.

My day was basically uneventful, I did get the phone minutes as soon as I signed off this morning. I had $0.66 left on my Foodstamps card so with the $0.05 rebate for not using a plastic bag at the Giant I was able to get $0.67 a poppyseed roll...and still have $0.04 left.....lol. Lunch at the coffee shop was the pink salmon and mayo on a poppyseed roll with the Dunkin Munchkins I salvaged last night and coffee I did not realize I had. Rachel called me this evening and told me how much fun she had yesterday and we made plans to take a longer walk with the dog, and pack a lunch too, next weekend.
Allen stopped by and told me he was meeting his on/off again girlfriend and to keep a low profile until after they talked. He came over after she left and we caught up on the past couple months.
Everytime I think about his past year...it puts mine in perspective. He broke his foot, it got infected and gangrenous and he lost his lower left leg, then his kidneys failed and he almost died and now he is on 3 times a week dialysis. After he got his prosthesis and was doing better than average, he fell and broke his right arm in 26 places between his elbow and shoulder and needed emergency surgery......which needed to be redone and a whole shoulder replacement implanted. And in the middle of all his his mother died, in a fall and was not discovered immediately. Talk about a load of sh*t.

Well, we closed up the coffee shop and I wanted to read more of my book so I rode the light rail down and back and then the subway out to Old Ct. station, where I ended up helping this older guy whose batteries had died on his powered scooter/wheelchair....DAMN those thing are a pain in the butt to push, especially the ones that cannot be put in a 'neutral' or 'ungeared' state. They are geared SO low that even downhill on the ramp it was like pushing a locomotive.

Anyway, I got back to the shed just in time to set the TV up and have CSI:Miami interrupted by the network with news that President Obama was coming on with a special announcement of national and international importance........and then teased everyone for 35 minutes until he came on.
Meanwhile FB just exploded with comments.

I'm heading over to Jenn's in the morning to shower and hopefully do a load of clothes at some point in the day, I still need to get to JAI to try to get my BP meds renewed, so depending on the time......?????
So, again hopefully, I'm going to try to sleep now.....or at least when 'NUMB3RS' is over.

Later...........................Dave

"Dog Day Afternoon.........................And Boy Are My Dogs Tired!..........................."

Good Evening;

It was a late day but a fun day. I got out about 2:00 pm. and went over to Rachel's with the intention of walking down to Starbucks with her puppy Watson. But we ended up wandering through her apartment complex playing at the different playgrounds and walking the 'Fitness Trail'. I never realized how big the complex is, nor how up and down it is built on the hillsides of Mt. Washington overlooking the Jones Falls Valley. Then we took the dog back to the apartment and had a bite to eat, and being so late in the day by then, instead of going down to the coffee shop took the laptop out on the balcony and played 'Bookworm Adventures Deluxe' her favorite spelling game. Then we went outside again with one of her brothers, my former stepson, and we walked to the other end of the complex to the big playground area, climbed all over the new-fangled jungle gym, oh...excuse me I mean the "scientifically designed, ergonomically constructed, environmentally conscious, and child safe, outdoor stationary mind-body modular exercise system and coordination builder"...(lol)..and took the long way back........I'm beat!
Back at her mother's apartment we watched TV with her brothers and her mother was at the table on her laptop, and her boyfriend was in the kitchen getting dinner.........weird, but not really uncomfortable.....thank goodness. I've seen way too many messy scenes between ex'es and currents and the kids stuck in the middle getting traumatized......like her first husband and everyone he comes in contact with. I ended up catching the 9:10 pm. bus that I normally take, back to the Metro station and the bus up here to the shed.
I sat outside of the First Watch Cafe reading for an hour an stopped in the Giant to fill my water bottle and got in the shed at 11:35 pm., just in time to watch the first of the Saturday night TV trinity I watch every week, 'Criminal Minds, The Unit, & Cold Case Files', mostly for enjoyment purposes, but you never know what might come in handy one day, technical/legal information-wise......lol.

I started typing this post after I myself and the TV arranged, and have been typing at intervals as I have to keep swapping the power cord from one to the other because both device's batteries need charging....that's why it took so long to post......lol.
I need to scrounge a 3 or 4 outlet adapter, so I can take care of the phone and lantern also.

When I was at Rachel's I had a salmon salad sandwich and some 'pink' potato salad that her mom had made up, which is ironic because pink salmon is what I have left in the way of food, along with 1/3 of a jar of peanut butter and tonight's stock of 'Dunkin Munchkins' and a few honey dips from the big, green, 'leftover doughnut disposal container' in the rear of the store.
Unless I score a couple of slices of bread tomorrow....I may be eating doughnut and salmon sandwiches with mayo..........lol! It's 3:45 so I'm outta here for now. I'm also wondering why my May minutes are not on my phone, usually just after midnight on the 1st of the month they are right there. It makes me nervous about whether I missed a letter or notification in the mail, same for D.S.S. and the court system. After Rachel's mother moved, I'm not sure at which agencies I formally changed my mailing address to Jenn's, and I don't know whether the 'ex' included me on the change of address form to the Postal Service when she moved....more worries.

Anyway, it's bedtime for real now,
Later..............................Dave
